Before Arriving

Be sure to read this BEFORE you leave! We have some tips to make your experience better plus very useful information you will require to visit.

What should I wear for THE POLAR EXPRESS™?

We encourage our guests young and old to wear pyjamas, just as in the book with a dressing gown for good measure. Children love it and if you can persuade our older guests, Mums, Dads, Granny and Grandpa to also join in, the atmosphere in the train comes alive for a truly magical experience!
For the safety of our guests we ask that they wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and not slippers, open toed shoes, flip-flops etc.
As you will be outside when boarding and departing THE POLAR EXPRESS™ we ask that you dress appropriately to the weather conditions.

What should I bring?

Don’t forget your paper A4 ticket and order confirmation. You will need your golden ticket on board THE POLAR EXPRESS™ so don’t forget this either! These will have been posted to you around October time. If you haven’t received yours, please see the ticket FAQs for details.
For those of you who purchased The Polar Express storybook then please feel free to bring it with you to read along with the story on board and to ask Santa to sign it for you.
This is a magical experience that you will want to cherish forever, so we recommend bringing a camera. Be sure to share your best memories with us on our Twitter and Facebook profiles too so we can share the magic!
As you will be outside when boarding and departing THE POLAR EXPRESS™ we ask that you dress appropriate to the weather conditions.

Pushchairs

There are no facilities for pushchairs on the train. We advise you leave them in your car where possible. Any pushchairs brought to the station will be kept safe on the platform until you return from the North Pole.

Disabled Guests and Wheelchair users

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the heritage carriages that we use, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs on the train. If a wheelchair user is able to transfer to the train and use the provided seats we are happy to accommodate them and we will transfer their wheelchair from the boarding platform to the exit platform, however a wheelchair cannot be left on the train. We are sorry for this inconvenience. If f there are any further questions regarding disabled guests please contact us by clicking here.

Food and Drink

We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements on the train. Cookies are available with no milk, gluten, egg, soya and nuts. Where requested hot chocolate will also be available that is dairy free. Please make yourself known to staff when you are on board the train. No food or drink is allowed to be brought onto the train. Wensleydale Railway/ PNP Events reserves the right to refuse entry or remove from site anyone who is behaving inappropriately.

Bells

Each passenger will receive a bell!

What if there is bad weather?

We will operate THE POLAR EXPRESS in all weathers and recommend you give yourself plenty of time to arrive at the railway. Unfortunately we will be unable to hold a train to wait for you due to our tight schedule and if you miss your train there is no guarantee we could provide you with a seat on a later train. Please check our website and Facebook page before you leave for updates.
If the weather is so bad that we consider a risk for passengers to travel to us, we will cancel the event for the evening – we will email and text you to let you know. In the event that we have to cancel, tickets will be refunded. Unless we have decided to cancel, we will not be able to refund or move your tickets to another day.

How do I get there?

Details of our park and ride will be given closer to the event.
